London Dairy Farms
THE HIGHEST QUALITY DAIRY, FROM THE HIGHEST QUALITY WATER
In 2003, London Dairy was founded with the goal of providing a safe, clean, healthy and comfortable environment for its employees and livestock. London Dairy has remained true to this vision. They are now one of Canada’s largest dairy farms with more than 1,500 milking cows. They also sell premium, genetically superior dairy cattle as replacement and breeding stock to clients across Canada and the U.S. They pride themselves on providing the quality resources that dairymen require to achieve business success.
London Dairy was looking for an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way to address the contaminants from its three onsite wells. Their wells provide water for feeding the cattle, pressure washing, and cleaning milking equipment, cooler tanks and pipelines.

Water used for feed and sanitizing needs to be of the highest standard, allowing London Dairy to produce the finest dairy products.
London Dairy required a sustainable, non-toxic solution with superior disinfection capability to treat problems that are typically found in farm well-water, including high levels of hydrogen sulphide (sulphur) odour and film as well as the presence of dissolved ferrous iron, iron bacteria and manganese.
The excess sulphur in particular was creating production issues in the operations of the dairy farm. It gave off an odour, discoloured the water, and was causing problems with clogging and cleaning of the equipment. This was leading to less-than-optimal production at the dairy farm.
THE ACLARUS SOLUTION
Aclarus system designers worked with London Dairy to determine the best solution to address their needs. In 2014, three Aclarus Ozone System units were installed to treat the high levels of sulphur (above 5ppm) as well as some iron and other issues. Since then, the system has provided bottled quality water for more than 2,000 cattle (1,500 milk cows, 500 replacement stock) as well as for the main office and other buildings on the property. The system is fully automatic, cost-effective and produces no consumables.
Joe DeKruyff, who manages the dairy milking operation, says the 1,500 cattle that are milked each day require, on average, up to 25 gallons of treated water per minute. He is grateful to have Aclarus’ support: “Aclarus have designed an excellent ozone water treatment system and they are absolutely 100 per cent great at managing and servicing it. They are dedicated problem solvers and are a great team to work with. They have your back!”

THE BENEFITS
There is no need to purchase, transport, store and handle chlorine and other potentially harmful chemicals.
Reduced monthly costs because there is less need to purchase/store expensive chemicals; costs about 5 cents per 1000 litres of water treated, significantly less than other treatments.
Completely disinfects the water; removes colour; removes harmful metals, microplastics and other micro-organisms more effectively than other treatments.
The system was easily installed, easy to use, automated, takes up little room and is modular for easy maintenance and service.
The treated water improved the health of the livestock and increased their production of milk.
The system is compliant with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for food and surface sanitization.
