Ozone water treatment is a proven solution for the removal of microplastics.

Microplastics are considered a major environmental threat so much so that scientists are defining this new historical epoch as “The Plasticene”. Although only 5.0 mm or less in size, these particles contain toxic and dangerous chemical substances that are inherent in all plastic products.

Extensive global research is currently underway to determine the full effect of microplastics on human health and the environment.

At the same time, increasingly high concentrations of microplastics entering wastewater treatment plants have become an issue of paramount concern. Recent studies conclude that advanced ozone is the most effective technology for the removal of microplastics in wastewater. Further research studies have shown that oxidative processes can degrade or completely destroy microplastic particles.
