Can you please explain how an ozone system controls dosage?

Controlling ozone dosage is important for system efficiencies and treatment assurance. There are two ways this is achieved;

  • Manually – where ozone dose level is checked regularly with water samples and a handheld reader; any adjustments to ozone production are done manually by the user,

  • Automatically/digitally with monitors in the flow of water that provide a feedback loop to the ozone generator to increase or decrease production appropriately.

Ozone does level is typically measured in two ways – Oxidative Reduction Potential (ORP) and Dissolved Ozone.

ORP is typically used for drinking and wastewater disinfection and operates in a safe range of values (e.g. 500-600mV).

Dissolved ozone monitors are especially used in industrial facilities using ozone for sanitation and cleaning (CIP within regulations with a typical dose range of 1-2parts per million (ppm).

With advancements in monitoring equipment, virtually all large industrial and municipal operations utilize automatic monitoring. Aclarus Ozone also offers remote monitoring that integrates into control systems and I.O.T. (internet of Things) or can be accessed and controlled remotely by operators.
